The Ficus Tineke (aka Ficus Elastica) is a gorgeous little houseplant native to South America.
Care: It will grow best with consistent, bright, filtered light. Many people put their rubber trees near a window where the light is filtered through a pair of sheer curtains. Water when the top inch of the soil becomes dry, then thoroughly drench until the water drains into the saucer. Empty the saucer if the water level is high so not to drown the roots.
Tip: Leaves should be cleaned from dust regularly. If the rubber tree is kept in the kitchen or nearby a thin greasy film can be found on the green leaves. To get rid of this you can use a moist cloth to carefully wipe down the leaves.
